Itinerary

Day 1: Colombo to Sigiriya—Cultural and Historical Exploration

Early in the morning, depart from Colombo to the Dambulla Golden temple. Later, explore the 1st-century BC ancient Buddhist temple. Later drive to Polonnaruwa. Explore the ancient city on a guided tour. Next, travel to Sigiriya. Climb the Sigiriya Rock Fortress, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, and explore the ancient ruins, frescoes, and stunning views from the top. Visit the Dambulla Cave Temple, another UNESCO site, known for its intricate Buddhist murals and statues.

Day 2: Sigiriya to Nuwara Eliya—Hill Country Adventure

Depart early for Nuwara Eliya. En route, stop at the Spice Herbal Garden, Tooth Temple, and a tea plantation and factory (e.g., Bluefield or Mackwoods) to learn about Ceylon tea production. Arrive in Nuwara Eliya and explore the town. Visit Victoria Park, Gregory Lake, and the Nuwara Eliya Post Office.

Day 3: Nuwara Eliya to Ella and Yala—Scenic Landscapes and Wildlife

Travel to Ella by hill country train. Hike up Little Adam's Peak for panoramic views of the surrounding hills and tea plantations. Later, visit the Nine Arch Bridge. Depart for Yala National Park.

Day 4: Yala to Galle—Wildlife and Coastal Charm

Go on a Yala National Park safari to spot leopards, elephants, and other wildlife. Depart for Galle. En route, stop at Mirissa or Weligama for a quick beach break. Explore Galle Fort, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, with its colonial architecture, boutique shops, and cafes. Next, depart for Colombo.
