Itineraries
Day 1
Time : 7:00 am
Colombo / Anuradhapura / Sigiriya
Meet and greet your guide, then drive to Anuradhapura.
Anuradhapura
According to recent excavations, Anuradhapura dates back to the eighth century BCE. Or 2800 BP. Nevertheless, legends span over three thousand to five thousand years. There were four Sri Lankan tribes, including Ramayana. From 380 BC until 15 hundred years later, the kingdom existed. This city is home to many of Sri Lanka's early, magnificent structures. Because of the abundance of ancient Buddhist structures, this city is a popular pilgrimage site for Sinhalese Buddhists.
The city tour of Anuradhapura
Eight significant icons that symbolize Sri Lanka's relationship with Buddhism are located in Anuradhapura, hence the collection's name, "Atamasthanaya," which translates to "eight sacred places." Each of them has an individual narrative or historical context. Monarchs governing the Anuradhapura Kingdom were primarily responsible for their construction. All of these locations will be part of your hop-on, hop-off Anuradhapura City Tour.
• Ruwanwelisaya—Constructed by King Dutugamunu, this "stupa" is among the most colossal so far completed.
Thuparamaya, situated in Sri Lanka, is considered the most ancient 'dagoba' and potentially the earliest observable one globally.
• Lovamahapaya's architectural merit lies in the fact that its roof was once clad in bronze tiles.
• Abhayagiri, one of Anuradhapura's largest viharas. The monastery housed five thousand inmates.
• Jethavanaramaya, which at the time housed approximately 3000 priests, is a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Abhayagiri is also quite similar in comparison.
• Mirisavetiya—King Dutugamunu constructed this stupa subsequent to his victory over King Elara.
• Lankaramaya—Constructed during the reign of King Valagamba of the Anuradhapura Kingdom, this is one of the city's eight sacrosanct sites.
The Buddha statue from Aukana
An influential A standing Buddha statue, called Avukana, is located next to the Kalawea reservoir. Sculpted in the fifth century from a massive granite rock face, the monument stands over 46 feet (14 meters) tall. It shows a version of the Abhaya mudra, with the intricately carved, closely worn garment. During the reign of Dhatusena, a master-student competition may have led to its construction. The Avukana statue is one of Sri Lanka's most notable examples of a standing statue.
At the Mihintale Temple
Mihintale is a high peak near Anuradhapura. Dating back to the second century BC, it is among the world's oldest places of worship. King Devanampiyatissa was the one who built it. The temple is currently a pilgrimage site, with numerous significant religious monuments and abandoned buildings, including an Ayurvedic hospital.
Activities for the day
We took a Minneriya safari and a city tour of Anuradhapura.
Accommodation
A hotel in Sigiriya
Day 2
Time : 7:00 am
Sigiriya / Plonnaruwa / Sigiriya
After breakfast, visit Sigiriya and Polonnaruwa.
Sigiriya
Morning: Climb the renowned Sigiriya rock fortress and explore the water gardens and granite abode (one of the Seven Wonders of the World and a UNESCO World Heritage site).
Sigiriya is situated in the central Matale District of Sri Lanka's Central Province, in close proximity to the municipality of Dambulla. The name denotes a historical and archaeological location dominated by a colossal granite column measuring approximately 200 meters (660 feet) in height. The ancient Sri Lankan chronicle Culavamsa records that King Kasyapa (477–495 CE) chose the location for his new capital. He constructed his palace atop this rocky outcrop and embellished its peripheries with vivid frescos. Approximately halfway up the face of this mountain, on a small plateau, he constructed a gateway in the shape of a monstrous lion. The nomenclature of this location is derived from the Lion Rock, or Shīhāgiri. The monarch's death left both the royal palace and the capital deserted. Until the fourteenth century, Buddha's monastery occupied the edifice.
Polonnaruwa
Polonnaruwa ranks second in Sri Lanka in terms of historical significance. Anuradhapura preceded it in its designation as Sri Lanka's capital. King Vijayabahu I, who reestablished the nation under a local ruler in 1070 after his victory over the Chola invaders, initially designated Polonnaruwa as the capital of the second-oldest kingdom in Sri Lanka.
Currently, the ancient city of Polonnaruwa stands as an exemplary archaeological site in the nation, bearing testament to the rigor and magnificence exhibited by the kingdom's initial monarchs. The 1982 Duran Duran music video Save a Prayer also used it as a backdrop for filming sequences. UNESCO has designated the ancient city of Polonnaruwa as a World Heritage Site.
In addition to temples, dagobas, and palaces, the city excursion exemplifies the historical craftsmanship of Sri Lanka. The ancient city of Polonnaruwa will host the following attractions during this three-hour guided excursion:
• Royal Palace (the residence of the era's most prolific and accomplished architect, King Parakramabahu) • Nissankamulla Palace (a royal audience hall featuring magnificent stonework)
• Gal Viharaya (home to some of the nation's finest rock sculptures)
• Thuparama and Lankathilaka Image Houses (excellent illustrations of vaulted shrine chambers)
• Vatadage: Provide an approximate representation of the appearance of a complete vatadage.
• Rankoth Vehera, the largest stupa in Polonnaruwa; • Parakramabahu Statue, one of ancient Sri Lanka's greatest monarchs
Subsequently, embark on a cooking class and Sigiriya village excursion to learn authentic Sri Lankan village cuisine and experience life as a Sri Lankan villager.
Activities for the day
We took a village tour, visited Sigiriya Rock, and explored the city of Polonnaruwa.
Accommodation

Day 3
Time : 7:00 am
Dambulla / Kandy
After breakfast at the hotel, drive to Kandy.
Temple of Dambulla Caves
This cave temple, which dates back to the first century BC, is the most impressive in all of Sri Lanka. Five caverns make up this temple, each with a drip line beneath an overhanging rock to keep the interiors dry. Religious motifs and depictions of numerous deities adorn the cavern ceilings. Images of the Buddha and the bodhisattvas are present. The temple has converted numerous caverns into shrine chambers. The Anuradhapura and Polonnaruwa dynasties constructed the caves beneath a 150-meter-tall rock. UNESCO classified the renowned Dambulla Cave Temple as a World Heritage Site. The Dambulla cave monastery continues to be Sri Lanka's most well-preserved ancient structure.
Visit the Temple of the Sacred Tooth Relic
The Temple of the Sacred Tooth Relic, also known as Sri Dalada Maligawa, is a Buddhist temple located in Kandy, Sri Lanka. The former Kingdom of Kandy housed the imperial palace complex. The relic has heavily influenced local politics since antiquity, based on the belief that whoever possesses it maintains control of the nation. Kandy, the Sri Lankan monarch's final capital, is a UNESCO world heritage site because of the temple.
Lake of Kandy
In addition to an upper lake excursion, you will also visit the market square and gem lapidary.
One-hour Kandyan cultural show
The Show of Cultural Dance. Because of Sri Lanka's close cultural ties to drama and dance, no occasion is considered complete without the presentation of a dance or drama. With its diverse ethnic composition, Sri Lanka is replete with a kaleidoscope of dance and drama. Two magnificent dance and drama traditions are shared by the two major ethnic groups, which contribute to Sri Lanka's notoriety in this field.
Activities
The Kandy Lake, the Dambulla Temple, the spice and herbal garden, the Tooth Relic Temple, and the Kandyan cultural performance are all worth visiting.
Accommodation

Day 4
Time : 9:00 am
Kandy / Nuwara Eliya / Ella
After breakfast, drive to the scenic hill country resort of Nuwara Eliya and Ella; en route, stop at Ramboda waterfall, tea garden and tea factory. Later in the day, embark on a city tour of Nuwara Eliya, followed by a journey on the hill country train.
Tea Factory, Sri Lanka, Nuwara Eliya
After this excursion concludes, you will proceed by car to Nuwara Eliya. On the way, enjoy two hours of sightseeing, including a visit to a tea factory and plantation that produces the world's finest tea.
While tasting exquisite Sri Lankan tea, you can learn everything there is to know about tea harvesting and processing. Although you may not like tea, the Hill Country, also known as Tea Country, is the most picturesque part of the island and worth visiting.
Nuwara Eliya sightseeing tour
Your guide will lead you on a strolling tour of Nuwara Eliya. Gregory Lake, downtown Nuwara Eliya, the Nuwara Eliya market, Gregory Lake, and Victoria Park are among the points of interest.

Day 5
Time : 8:00 am
Ella/ Yala
Early morning, climb Mini Adams Peak Mountain to witness the sunrise and absorb the scenic landscape; later, head to Yala National Park.
Waterfall at Ravanna
Approximately 25 meters (82 feet) in height, this waterfall cascades from a concave oval-shaped granite outcrop. People compare the waterfall's transformation during the local rainy season to the withering petals of an areca flower. However, this is not the case during the arid season, when water flow drastically decreases. A portion of the Ravana Ella Wildlife Sanctuary comprises the cascades.
Yala safari
Yala National Park is the island's most popular national park and is widely recognized as one of Sri Lanka's best safari locations. A full-day safari in Yala commences in the wee hours of the morning and concludes late at night, providing ample time to observe leopards, elephants, bears, crocodiles, and numerous other animal and avian species.
Yala is one of the world's best places to observe leopards. Yala National Park had 17.5 half-leopards per 100 square kilometers of land area. Block 1 of Yala National Park may contain the densest leopard population in the world, as leopard densities have remained at approximately one per two square kilometers in this minuscule area. In contrast to the majority of other national parks where leopards are predominantly observed at night, leopards in Sri Lanka exhibit diurnal activity.
Activities
Mini Adams Peak hike, Yala safari, and Ravana waterfall visitation

Day 6
Time : 9:00 am
Yala/ Galle / Bentota
You can opt for an early morning Yala National Park safari at your own expense. After breakfast, depart for the seaside hotel in Bentota, making stops along the way to explore the Madu River estuary, Bentota beach, and the Sea Turtle Conservation Centre. The journey will last for five hours.
Bentota
Bentota Beach is the island's most frequented seaside vacation spot. The distinctive geographical position is a significant factor contributing to the Bentota Beach Resort's appeal as a beach vacation destination. The mainland connects the island's southern boundary, where the Bentota resort is located. Bentota primarily consists of a narrow land stretch that runs north-south. Unlike most other islands, Bentota shares its borders with both a river and a sea. The Indian Ocean borders Bentota's western side, while the Bentota River borders its eastern side. This narrow sliver of land is home to a considerable number of hotels, offering vacationers a tranquil environment. Online hotel reservations for Bentota through Serendipity Tours are available at an exceptionally reasonable price.
Sea turtle conservation project
In order to preserve the turtle population, which is on the verge of extinction, initiatives have been implemented along the southern coast of Sri Lanka, where the turtles nest. The turtle constructs an incubation chamber on the beach, where she lays her eggs, covers them with sand as instructed, and allows them to dry in the sun's heat. Fishermen often collect the eggs and then sell them to consumers. However, currently, conservation programs purchase the eggs and allow them to hatch naturally in enclosed areas, preventing the birds from catching them. They release the young into the sea two days later at night, increasing their chances of survival.
Maud River Safari
Because of its international ecological significance, this location was designated "Ramsar Wetland" in 2003. It is the second largest wetland in Sri Lanka, spanning 915 hectares and home to nearly 300 families across 23 islands. The Coast Conservation Department has designated the River Sanctuary as a Special Area Managed (SAM) and Tourist Development Area. Balapitiya is the place of residence for the 'Madu Ganga'.
The city tour of Galle
Galle, an ancient seaport in Sri Lanka, functioned as a strategic location along the Silk Route. The Portuguese discovered it later and built a fortress there, followed by the Dutch who further fortified it. Currently, the World Heritage Site recognizes this fortress.
Galle Fort
With a multiethnic and multireligious populace, the fort boasts a rich historical background. There is considerable interest from the Sri Lankan government and several Dutch individuals who retain ownership of properties within the fort in transforming it into one of the world's modern marvels. Under criteria iv, UNESCO acknowledged the cultural significance of the fort and designated the location a UNESCO World Heritage Site. This designation is in recognition of the site's exceptional display of "an urban ensemble that exemplifies the interaction between European architecture and South Asian traditions during the 16th to the 19th centuries."
Galle Fort, alternatively referred to as the Dutch Fort or the "Ramparts of Galle," withstood the destructive Boxing Day tsunami that struck a portion of the town's coastline. Since then, it has been restored. The Galle Fort accommodates the prestigious Amangalla resort hotel, which is in close proximity to the Dutch Reformed Church. Built in 1684, its original purpose was to accommodate the Dutch Governor and his staff. In 1865, following its transformation into a hotel under the name New Oriental Hotel, it served nineteenth-century European passengers traveling between Europe and Galle Port.

When traveling through a large part of Sri Lanka on a tight schedule, this was a great, simple option. You meet some wonderful individuals and experience the main attractions. Parts of the accommodations may be made better. On this vacation, there are few lengthy days spent traveling as well, but I didn’t mind because I could enjoy the sights. There is some free time if you are an independent traveler, I had the opportunity to have a evening swim everyday. Overall though, this is a nice option if you’d like a planned trip.

Throughout Sri Lanka, I have utilized Seerendipity Tours with Sarath and other chauffeurs on multiple occasions. The vehicles are exceptionally comfortable and well-appointed, the chauffeurs are well-informed and secure, and the booking procedure was entirely communicated. However, there was exception with the guide I met on Galle tour. He might need little bit more experience I think. Overall good experince with seerendipity. Extensively recommended for all travel and excursion requirements in Sri Lanka. Excellent pricing, too!

His evident enthusiasm and dedication to his occupation enhanced the overall experience.
Iris– :
We went on a Sri Lanka 7 days tour with Ladip and had a great time exploring various parts of Sri Lanka. Ladip got in contact before to arrange pick up and make sure we had everything in place. He also asked us what else we might want to see so we could adapt the tour itinerary to suit us which we really appreciated (for example, we stopped at a spice garden on the way back) He had good knowledge about the history, culture, religion, economy, wildlife and people of Sri Lanka. He also spoke about Sri Lankas political background. Overall he had very good knowledge about his country. There was a lot of driving and he was a great and safe driver so we were more than comfortable the whole trip. It was great to have a personal guide rather than be part of a big group and we would definitely pick Seerendipity tours as our agent and Ladip as our guide again for any future trips and tours!
Tamar– :
Gihan our guide was very informative of all the stops on the Sri Lanka 7 days tour and he seemed to truly enjoy all the places we went to along the way. It was a very detailed trip about Sri Lanka we had come across most tourist hotspots, I must say it is a well-balanced trip. Our guide got us arrack… which was delicious and unique to them (we had no clue about this alcoholic drink and ordered it many times afterwards for our dinner!). We visited the wildlife parks and it was the best for me, we were lucky to leopards, elephants, bears and many other animals within a short period of time. Overall experience of this trip was excellent. Our guide gave us a detailed insight into Sri Lankan culture during the trip and it was cool to talk about our culture as well as his. Good conversations!

We went on Sri Lanka 7 days tour with my fa,mily and our guide was fantastic and he pretty much adopted into our family. Sarath is extremely knowledgeable but also warm and wonderful. My whole family of 5 (myself, husband, daughter, 19; son, 17; daughter, 15) absolutely adored him and learned so much about his beautiful country. His English is perfect and his love of his island is very apparent.
Phillipe– :
The tour was good. Our guide sam ordered teh rice and curry for us. Basically it involved one stop at a local restaurant where he ordered for us. I wish he would have asked us what we wanted to eat before deciding what to order because we may have enjoyed it more. My wife and I are really in to food and wine and were expecting the rice and curry portion of the tour to be more of a “foodie” experience, which it was not.
Tartiana– :
Joseph, our gude was so knowledgeable, not only about Sri Lanka, but of the world. the tour was educating, fun, and very enjoyable. Joseph is a true gentleman and captured our attention immediately. 100% recommend a tour with Joseph😊

His knowledge of Sri Lanka, history, Nature and Sri Lanak people and current events is vast, we learned so much as we travelled through the islands. We thoroughly enjoyed the trip.

It was a great job by rohan, Gihan was a goof guide, he has thoroughly immersed himself in 2000 years of Sri Lankan history. He gave us a nice picture ofSri Lanka’s past and present. We learned about all the major stories of Sri Lanka and got underneath the skin of the island’s important cultural and historical places that demonstrate the truth of Sri Lanka’s past and present. These included temples, palaces, gardens, stupas, forts and, many other things. Rohan is all at once funny, smart, patient and challenging. We booked the trip with 3-star hotels and they good, clean and good food too. Highly recommended.
