This nature cocktail tour of Sri Lanka for 5 days takes you to a large number of places; some of the sites are suitable for adventure and nature activities, while others are good for cultural and historical experiences. Below is the itinerary for the nature cocktail tour of Sri Lanka for 5 days. Two hours after starting this Sri Lanka 4 nights tour, you will sense why we call this program a nature cocktail tour. This tour is meant for people who like activities, but the nature tour is not suitable for people to look for an easy-going holiday. If you are looking for a Sri Lanka 4-night tour with relaxation, then we have some other programs for you, like beach holiday packages and cultural tours. Itineraries
DAY 1
Time : 7:00 am
Colombo / Yala
A Serendipity Tours representative will meet you at your hotel at 0700 hours, after which you will depart for the Sinharaja rainforest via Kalutara and Agalawatte. Our nature guide will greet and welcome you as you arrive at the rainforest, guiding you through the jungle trek and educating you about the fauna and flora you encounter along the way.
The journey from Colombo to Sinharaja takes around 2 hours, and after a brief rest, you start the Sinharaja rainforest trek. Our nature expert will explain to you about the trees, plants, animals, and birds that you encounter during the trek.
After the rainforest trek, drive to the nearby hotel to enjoy a delicious local meal. After having leisurely lunch and eating Sri Lankan fruits, start the return journey to the hotel.
The trek continues to a hotel in Tissamaharama via Udawalawe, with a safari stop at Udawalawe National Park en route.
Udawalawe National Park
The Udawalawe national park safari includes a ride through the jungle with a 4-wheel-drive Jeep, a jungle tracker, site entrance fees, and all taxes. Every traveler who enters the Udawalawe national park wishes to see a couple of wild elephants (Sri Lanka's biggest animal). Because Udawalawe is one of the best wildlife parks in the world to spot Asian elephants, it has the largest concentration of elephants compared to any other national park in the world.
Travelers can witness a variety of animal species, including elephants, wild boars, deer, buffalo, monkeys, and numerous other animals, including leopards. It also accommodates many species of vertebrates and birds.
Activities available for the day
The safari in Udawalawe National Park involves trekking through the Sinharaja rainforest.

DAY 2
Time : 5:00 am
Yala
Early in the morning, depart from your hotel with a breakfast packet and meet and greet with the safari jeep driver. The journey from your hotel to Yala National Park takes around 1 hour.
Yala National Park
Yala is considered one of Sri Lanka's oldest national parks; at the same time, it is the biggest national park in Sri Lanka, with 97880 hectares of area. Initially, Yala served as a hunting ground during the British rule in Sri Lanka. People reportedly had to pay a fee to hunt in Yala. Hunting drastically reduced the number of animals, leading to Yala's designation as a national park in 1900, which became a safe place for animals.
Yala, the largest national park, comprises five distinct zones. Yala holds a prominent place in terms of biodiversity. Yala is famous for its high density of wildlife such as leopards, elephants, deer, wild boar, bears, monkeys, etc.
Yala is considered one of the best places in the world to see leopards. There were 17 ½ leopards in every 100 square kilometers in Yala National Park. Block 1 of Yala National Park is home to the world's densest population of leopards, with approximately one leopard per 2 square kilometers. Sri Lanka leopards, unlike those in most other national parks, are active throughout the day.
Activities available for the day
Full-day Yala safari (8 hours)
b>Accommodation in Yala
Hibiscus Garden Hotel
DAY 3
Time : 9:00 am
Yala / Ella
After the leisurely breakfast, leave for the hotel in Ella via southern Sri Lanka's southern province.
Ravana waterfall
The Ravana Falls (popularly known as Ravana Ella in Sinhala) is a popular sightseeing attraction in Sri Lanka. It currently ranks among the country's widest falls. This waterfall measures approximately 25 m (82 ft) in height and cascades from an oval-shaped concave rock outcrop. In the local wet season, the waterfall resembles an areca flower with withering petals. But this is not the case in the dry season, when the flow of water reduces dramatically. The falls form part of the Ravana Ella Wildlife Sanctuary and are located 6 km (3.7 mi) away from the local railway station.
Ella
The area has a rich biodiversity, dense with numerous varieties of flora and fauna. Cloud forests and tea plantations cover the hills that surround Ella. The town has a cooler climate than the surrounding lowlands due to its elevation. The Ella Gap allows views across the southern plains of Sri Lanka.
In the afternoon, you will visit the 9 Arch Bridge and make the trek to Mini-Adams Peak.
Activities available for the day
Explore the mini-Adams peak, the 9-arch bridge, and Ravana waterfall.
Accommodation in Ella
Oakray Ella Gap Hotel
DAY 4
Time : 7:00 am
Ella / Horton plains / Kitulgala
After breakfast leaves for the hotel in Kitulagla via Nuwara Eliya and Horton plains, en route trekking through the Horton plains national park.
Hoton plains national park
Horton Plains National Park is located in the hill country of Sri Lanka at an elevation of 2,100–2,300 m (6,900–7,500 ft), it is one of the last remaining cloud forests on the island. The national park is declared a nature reserve in 1988. The Horton plains national park has a unique atmosphere, and it is primarily made of montane grassland and cloud forest. The forest harbors a large number of Fauna and Flora while endemism among the trees, plants, birds and animals is very high here.
The visitors will be trekking through the forest and encounter fascinating fauna, flora, streams, and a waterfall. The entire trek through the forest takes around 2 hours.
Activities available for the day
Trekking through the Horton plains national park
Accommodation in Kitulgala
Plantation hotel
DAY 5
Time : 8:00 am
Kitulgala / Colombo
After a leisurely breakfast, leave for the water sports center and meet your experienced instructor. The program includes whitewater rafting in Kitulgala, kayaking, village tours, and a rainforest trek.
Whitewater rafting
A 4-wheel-drive Jeep will transport you to the water rafting starting point. This is the set-off point for most Whitewater adventures. This enthralling adventure lasts around 2 hours, with several stops on the way down the river. You will encounter 3 major rapids and 5 minor rapids. Whitewater rafting in Kitulgala carries a difficulty rating of 4. Therefore, we provide an experienced guide for each Whitewater rafting trip who takes the helm and manages the boat, leaving the others to paddle. There is no age limit or experience level to participate in the Whitewater adventure.
Bird watching
You will walk through the village, jungle, and plantations, searching for the indigenous bird. Kitulgala is a top pick among the bird watchers in Sri Lanka, where you have the opportunity to see many species of birds. Ornithologists, especially nature lovers, can reward themselves with sightings of the Crested Serpent Eagle, the Ceylon Spur Fowl, the Ceylon Hanging Parrot, and the Lay's Parakeet. Kitulgala offers activities like mountain biking, cultural sites, fruit orchards, and lowland tea plantations.
Rainforest trek
Experience a variety of fauna and flora in the Kitulgala Forest Reserve Rainforest, as well as beautiful scenery of waterfalls and streams hidden within the forest. Have a cool dip in a scenic flowing water stream during your Rain Forest Trek in the Jungle of Kitulgala.
Unlike the rainforest trek in Sinharaja, the rainforest trek in Kitulgala is not purely within a virgin rainforest. The trek includes a part of the village, rainforest, plantations, etc. The trek lasts around 2 hours, and our nature expert shows you the places of interest along the way while explaining the fauna and flora that you see during the trek.
Kayaking
Kithulgala is one of the best places for beginners to learn the basics of the sport, and advanced kayakers will find the Kelani River a fun place or simply get in a great day of exciting whitewater paddling. Kayaking downstream offers breathtaking scenery and a gentle journey. After the water sports, head to the hotel in Colombo.
Activities available for the day
I enjoy trekking through the rainforest, bird watching, whitewater rafting, and kayaking.

My Sri Lanka nature tour with many activities alongside with beautiful nature was the most efficient use of the time I had available in Sri Lanka. Everything about it surpassed my expectations; I would not have made any adjustments. An indelible encounter that would have been unattainable without the assistance of Sameera, my knowledgeable guide. I was introduced to the natural and village splendor of Sri Lanka in a manner that I never could have imagined. The journey through the hill country was an absolute delight. As a solitary female traveler, I am extremely appreciative to have discovered this exceptional service; I positively endorse it to all.

A nature tour of Sri Lanka encompasses a wide range of landscapes, including beaches, wildlife parks, rainforests, and picturesque hill country. However, our highlight was the safari that was included in the package to Yala National Park, where we were able to observe a large number of elephants and a pair of affectionate leopards. December travel conditions were favorable for our excursion.

I took the trip just after relaxing COVID-19 rules in Sri Lanka, but I was well aware that there were very tough rules and regulations to curb spread of Covid-19. But surprisingly, as a tourist it did not made any impact on our tour. All sites we vsited were open and time schedules were properly planned by the local company. It was perfectly planned. Ver few travllers everywhere and sometimes no travllers at all. Excellent guide very caring service. All hotels are good and follow the COVID-19 rules and regulations.

My husband and I travelled to Sri Lanka with the sole goal of discovering a non-touristy side of it. Our aim was to explore the natural beautiy of Sri Lanka like beaches, wildlife parks, rainforests. We wanted to see a real thing. Therefore we chose a Seerendipity, which is a truly local company and we found them through internet. I gotta say that this was one of the best tours we’ve ever had. Adil Poriya– :
I did the nature tour of Sri Lanka. It was a short 5 days trip but it definitely was one of the most adventurous, interesting and mindblowing trips I ever did. Our tourguide, Gihan, was outstanding! He knows so much about Sri Lanka, its nature, culture and people. I thought the trip exclusively planned with natural attraction but there were few interesting cultural monuments also included in the package and it was good. We visited so many interesting places such as wildlife parks, primieval rainforests, adventure sites, which I will remember forever. I will never forget all these wonderful impressions I gained during this trip and definitely recommend it to everyone!
Kamladeen – :
I was disappointed with few things of this trip such as tour guide and places stopped for shopping.
Reter– :
A wonderful trip, well organised. So good to have a tour guide, felt safe.
Elisa– :
Sometimes the reality of the trip does not match the description. It is very cold in the mountains and the hotel did not provide proper heating. We had to drive a lot during the trip, sometimes with very few things to see. We did not get to see the most interesting parts at the end of the tour because it was abruptly cancelled due to COVID-19. In short, my worst traveling experience anywhere in the world.
Rushman – :
This trip is unbelievable value and visits fantastic places, perfect trip for a nature lover. Our group was consiting of 10 people and everythign was perfectly organized by the local company. Most importantly the guide was superb with highly professional service. Accommodation is basic, which we all accepted as it is a value trip, but rooms were very clean all the time, good food.
